Experience Stunning views of the himalayas

Welcome to Naldehra House – A Legacy Rebuilt Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Shimla hills, Naldehra House stands as a tribute to history, resilience, and architectural significance. This magnificent retreat was built to honour the legacy of the ancient Pagoda Fort, which once graced this land with its majestic slate roof and formidable presence. Centuries ago, the stone and wooden Pagoda Fort was a symbol of strength, offering panoramic views of the northern and eastern snowy Himalayas, the foothills, the golden sunsets, and the distant Shimla hills. However, during the Mughal invasions, this historic stronghold was destroyed—its walls crumbled, and its structure was engulfed in flames. To preserve and celebrate this rich history, Naldehra House was envisioned with a tower aptly named the Overlooking Fort. Perched at the very edge of Naldehra Hill in Jubar Village, just a short walk from the famous British-built golf course, this tower—crafted with intricately carved wooden windows in the Bhartiya-Rajput style—now stands as a watchtower of memories. From here, one can gaze upon the vast landscapes and snowy Himalayan peaks, once safeguarded by the Bhajji rulers from their summer palace atop the hill, which now serves as an orphanage in Durgapur. The visionary behind Naldehra House, Puran Bhardwaj, is an accomplished mountain trekking guide, author of The Himalayan Bond, and Head of Hospitality for international groups. Having traveled extensively across India, Nepal, and Europe, he dreamt of creating a halfway retreat for trekking groups journeying from Shimla to the Satluj Valley—a dream that first took shape in 1999 and took 17 years to build. Understanding the importance of heritage and preservation, he sought to immortalise the forgotten Jubar Keela (Bhajji Fort) and its history. In the days of the old fort, drums were played to send alerts and signals across the hidden mountain kingdoms and the Satluj Valley. Today, the echoes of that past resonate through Naldehra House, where history meets modern comfort. This house is more than just a retreat; it is a testament to the past, a tribute to forgotten tales, and a haven for those seeking serenity with a touch of heritage. Here, every sunrise whispers stories of resilience, and every sunset paints a picture of timeless beauty, overlooking the majestic Himalayas. Come, experience history reborn at Naldehra House and enjoy our rooftop café.
